Combine multiple activities

With Valldal as your basecamp, you can experience the UNESCO fjord “Tafjord”, stunning waterfalls, Reinheimen National Park and mountain farms with views you could hardly believe. In Valldal you will find culture, nature, history and a living and thriving local community. The area is not one of the largest tourist attractions, which should be considered a bonus if you wish peace and serenity while touring this great region.

This is what forms the basis of our activities. We offer a broad variety of activities, and in order to offer you the best possible experience we have put together some well-chosen combinations. All in the hope of providing you and your group with the best experience possible.

We firmly believe that you need to “taste” a region in order to truly experience it. Therefore, most of our guided trips have lunch included, a lunch based on some of our local delicacies. In addition, our guide will provide you with local knowledge about the regions history, culture and nature. This is of course in addition to making sure that you have a nice and relaxing trip.

*Highly recommended and one of the favorite among our guides

This is the trip for those who like a calm and quiet exploration by fjord as well as a challenge and some excitement! It is a one day trip from Valldal where we paddle to Fjørå, a small village by the fjord. Here you will be able to experience the unknown UNESCO fjord “Tafjord”. Waterfalls, mountain peaks, wildlife and exciting local stories are just some of the key elements for this trip.

In peaceful Fjørå we have a climbing area with several different routes and difficulty levels, perfect for both the young and adults. We offer climbing and rappel from up to 25 meters height. In this area we also have an exciting cave that is possible to explore. It requires full climbing gear, headlights and a local guide in order to access it.

During our time in Fjørå we will serve a delicious lunch with local delicacies.

Transport back to Valldal will be by bus or by car.

A spectacular trip!

This is the trip for those who like a calm and quiet exploration by fjord combined with a usually inaccessible hiking trip. We will start with an easy paddle from Valldal along Syltefjellet before we start crossing the fjord. Being close to nature, it is not uncommon to experience both eagles and porpoise. On the other side we will disembark by a small boathouse.

Here we start a great hiking trip, 450 vertical meters to Vikasætra. The hike takes place on a steep, but good trail. Along the route we will pass several spectacular view points and an old farm with an exciting history. Vikasætra is an old summer pasture with a magnificent view of the fjord and Valldal. The “only” accessible way to get here, is by boat or kayak!

  • Time distribution: 30% kayak and 70% hiking
  • Hiking in steep terrain
  • Good physical shape, good hiking shoes
  • Lunch is included, and will be consumed outdoors on Vikasætra
  • All necessary equipment is included (but we do recommend good shoes and outdoors wear depending on the weather along with a small backpack)
